Transporting long-distance trucks
In this case, the owner wants to hire a long-distance truck to carry goods from north to south or vice versa.
Advantages:
- Fast transit time: only 3 days for a car to be delivered
- Convenient There is almost a fleet of vehicles running daily on this route, locations can also be located along the route (eg Da Nang) but not necessarily at the north and south ends.
- Suitable for small shipments, from several tens of kilograms, or several cartons. There are lots of motorbikes that collect goods, then carry them by big trucks on the route.
Defect:
- Transport sets are having the highest freight in the options. This is because each vehicle can only carry a maximum of a few dozen tons of cargo. This amount is quite small compared to trains (several hundred tons) or ships (several thousand tons, or more). Therefore, the transportation cost of cars will naturally be high.
For example, the cost of transporting a vehicle carrying about 20-30 tons of cargo from the north-south line varies widely from 35-50 million VND. Or if going to retail stores, it must be around 2 million VND / ton, not including shipping at 2 ends of stocking.
Transportation of north-south railway
Recently, transporting goods by rail is becoming more popular, oriented to reduce the load for roads. North-South cargo transportation by train also followed a stronger development, directly competing with inland roads and sea.
Many of my company’s customers are doing domestic shipping, now moving to railway transport, because the price is also competitive.
If considering the economies of scale, trains cannot be transported by sea. However, for the locations of loading and unloading cargo near stations on the north-south line (such as Gia Lam, Yen Vien, Giap Bat in Hanoi; and Song Than in the South), the overall cost for the service door-door is reduced thanks to savings from the factory to the station, compared to the port. As a result, in many cases, transporting north and south packages, using trains is more competitive than ships.
Inland sea transport
Large shipments of several dozen to several hundred thousand tons: such as rice, bran, fertilizer, animal feed materials … suitable for renting bulk cargo ships to transfer.
This form of transport is low (perhaps lowest), but the time is long because the train is slow. Worse, in the winter when there is a northeast monsoon, small boats don’t even run north, or have to extend the long run time (over 10 days), greatly affecting the delivery plan. .
